Meggitt Introduces High-EMI Resistant Vibration Sensors

Melissa Larson | February 26, 2015

Meggitt’s HV (high voltage) isolated sensors are designed for vibration monitoring in high electromagnetic environments commonly found near wind turbines, including the base and nacelle, and rotating machinery such as bearings, gearboxes. The rugged design and high performance components of the HV series ensure reliable operation in harsh electromagnetic environments without signal loss or delays.

The sensing element of the HV series is isolated from the sensor base and casing to offset the effect of high voltage and electromagnetic interference (EMI) often found in wind turbines and VFD/SCR controllers. The isolated pellet offers extra protection for internal electronics. Ceramic housings and hermetic sealing provide isolation up to 6,000 volts promoting long-term stability.

The compact, top-exit sensors are installed easily and are available in multiple configurations of M12 or MIL-5015 connectors, and M6, M8 or ¼-28 mounting. 100 and 500 mV/g low frequency models for seismic monitoring measure ultra-low levels down to 0.1 Hz. For superior electrical isolation, the HV sensors can be paired with the rugged 6Q, IP68-rated waterproof Viton® boot connector with multiple locking seals for secure connection.
