Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc. (Vernon Hills, IL) has introduced an F800 Series variable frequency drive (VFD) that offers precise motor-speed control with maximum energy-savings.
Designed specifically to improve air-movement efficiency, the low-voltage, multi-funtional F800 is suitable for a range of HVAC applications, including air handlers, cooling towers, and pump, as well as for industrial pump and fan applications.
Embedded motor control algorithms optimize AC motor voltage and current based on the desired load, allowing users to maximize motor usage and performance, while saving energy. F800 units also incorporate monitoring capabilities to capture and display actual energy usage. Other notable features include on-board preventive maintenance to reduce unexpected downtime, and an optional LCD display that provides accurate time-stamped logging and real-time clock-scheduling functions.
The ability of these drives to control and support a variety of motor types, including AC induction and permanent-magnet designs, eliminates the need to specify multiple VFDs to address different motor-control needs. According to the manufacturer, this versatility makes the F800 Series particularly useful for food and beverage, automotive, and water treatment operations.
Offered in 200- and 400-volt classes, the F800 is available in traditional-chassis and large system/component styles, and as a true turnkey bypass control solution.
