Universal Flow Monitors Upgrades Variable-Area Flowmeter Line with HART Protocol Options

Hazel Park, MI-based Universal Flow Monitors (UFM) now offers a HART protocol option on variable-area vane- and piston-style flowmeters for use in challenging lubrication environments. Optimized for specific lubrication fluids, these devices offer an additional mechanical-switch option to back up the transmitted signal.
Variable-area flowmeters are commonly used to provide cost-effective local indication of small liquid or gas flows in the petroleum, chemical, and petrochemical industries, and in lubricating-oil applications. With UFM’s new HART transmitter option, these widely used meters provide rate, total, and two adjustable set points. (One of the most popular industrial protocols, HART is a digital communication signal superimposed on top of the 4–20 mA standard analog signal.)
The HART option is available with all variable-area vane- and piston-style flowmeters from UFM. The products come in 12 sizes, and go up to 2000 psi pressure for flows ranging up to 500 gpm. The company notes that these CSA- and CE-certified units are easy to install, operate, and maintain. Because they are mounted in-line, in any orientation, no straight pipe runs are required.
