Augmented Reality Delivers Maintenance Offering for Italian OEM
Grant Gerke | September 15, 2018
A picture is worth a thousand words so the saying goes and a recent column in our August 2018 print issue, “Augmented Reality Technology Drives OEM Service Offerings,” discussed various original equipment manufacturer (OEM) maintenance trends and, specifically, how Italpresse Gauss, Brescia, Italy (italpressgauss.com) uses augmented reality technology from Cambria, UK, AVEVA, to remotely troubleshoot their machines around the globe.
The print issue included an image of the maintenance technician tablet, but a detailed video case study of the remote service offering is now available, see below.
Video Case Study:
Just to refresh, Italpresse Gauss is a global automotive supplier and their new AMe offering allows operators to point a camera-enabled tablet at a machine part to extract augmented machine and maintenance-related data documentation to diagnose and repair faulty components.
The maintenance process can include a tablet for initial diagnostics at the machine and a VR headset used by a remote engineer to help guide the local service team.
