Siemens Power Supply Designed for Networked Automation Applications
Melissa Larson | December 10, 2014
Siemens compact and modular Sitop PSU8600 is the first power supply system to integrate into networked automation applications and Siemens Totally Integrated Automation Portal (TIA Portal), considerably reducing engineering, configuration and operation costs.
Only 125-mm wide, the power supply system’s space-saving base unit provides 40 amperes. It is capable of providing 50% extra power for short time periods and is 94 percent efficient. The output current threshold can be set from 0.5 to 10 amperes and output voltage from 12 to 28 volts.
The system is also modular and expandable with minimal additional wiring effort through the use of the built in System Clip Link for connecting system data and supply energy. The base unit can be expanded with up to three modules for additional outputs and two buffer modules for bridging short power failures up to 600 ms.
Up to 16 integrated PROFINET output interfaces with selective monitoring are available with the system and may be individually set for voltage and threshold current Comprehensive operating and diagnostics information is available through the interfaces. Condition monitoring and power data acquisition functions further enhance availability and efficiency.
