AutomationDirect Offers RFID Locking Safety Switches

AutomationDirect’s safety products offering now includes non-contact locking safety switches. IDEM’s MGL Series of safety switches combines magnetic locking and radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology to provide non-contact operation with a high degree of anti-tamper protection, making them virtually impossible to override. Heavy-duty or medium-duty holding force models are available in either master coded or uniquely coded actuation configurations.
These safety switches feature plastic, die cast metal or stainless steel housings; stainless steel housings have an IP69K rating for use in food processing applications. Additional features include two normally-closed overload-protected safety outputs and one normally-open auxiliary output for door open indication; two LEDs, clearly visible on either side of the cable exit point, indicate all the possible switch states. The flexible actuator allows for a high degree of misalignment tolerance and remanent magnetization provides a light magnetic latch after unlocking.
All MGL-series safety switches connect to most popular safety relays to achieve up to PLe and Cat.4 for ISO3849-1 ratings. Offered with your choice of 8-wire cable or M12 quick-disconnect (purchase cables separately for the M12 QC), the MGL series can connect up to 20 switches and E-stops in series.
